National Healthy Start Association

The National Healthy Start Association (NHSA) builds on its over twenty year experience and lessons learned in community based engagement and capacity building to bring value to the overall process and end product of the Best Babies Zone (BBZ) Initiative. The NHSA liaisons with the BBZ program staff, consultants, and all other national BBZ partners, to ensure coordination and integration of community engagement and leadership development in community sites.

NHSA is committed to improving birth outcomes and health disparities that exist with communities of color throughout the United States.  As the membership association for the federal Healthy Start programs, NHSA promotes the development of community-based maternal and child health programs, particularly those addressing the issues of infant mortality, low birth weight and racial disparities in perinatal outcomes.
