Mariela Herrick

Graduate Student Researcher

Mariela is the graduate research assistant for the Best Babies Zone Initiative. She has extensive experience facilitating community capacity building efforts, multi-sector partnerships, strategic planning, program management, and experience working with underserved communities. Mariela comes to the BBZ National team after designing public health interventions through technology at YTH (Youth+Tech+Health). Additionally, Mariela led health equity projects and public health interventions as the Program Manager for BBZ Castlemont at the Alameda County Public Health Department.

Mariela obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley. She is currently pursuing a Master in City and Regional Planning at the University of California, Berkeley. She is passionate about addressing health inequities, wealth building opportunities for families, and community economic development opportunities for all.
